Visiting New Jersey?

If so, you may want to check out Jimmy's Restaurant in Morristown, NJ. It has quite a haunted reputation involving a grisley murder there. To read the story for yourself, or get directions for your travel plans, just check out:

Leave it to USA Today...

...to find a new slant on haunted locations to visit. Of course you've seen haunted houses, haunted restaurants, haunted B&B's, even haunted battlefields. But have you ever seen... a HAUNTED HIKING TRAIL?!?!?

Well, USA Today just published 10 haunted hikes to take in the good ole' USA. An interesting slant, and in fact, I'm a little disappointed that I didn't think of it first!

To read their haunted hiking trails, just...

The Ghosts Of "The Shining"...

Okay, you've got six months to plan... so get ready to go looking for the ghosts of "The Shining"! Okay, so that book was a fictional story by the master of terror, Stephen King. But he was inspired by spending a vacation in an old hotel named "The Stanley" in Estes Park, Colorado... and there are ghost stories a'plenty in the old place. In January, the National Ghost Hunters Getaway is planning a memorable getaway there. Aside from actually getting there by plane, train, or automobile, the cost is VERY affordable. Here's all the info... maybe we'll see you there!

The Lalaurie House

When I wrote the book "A Ghost in My Suitcase", I did a chapter on the Lalaurie House in New Orleans - the place has always fascinated me. I happened across a website that has quite a bit of information on the old place, and thought that I'd share it. It's fascinating!

Ghost stories from Nurses

Someone sent in a link to a Nursing website, and on their discussion board someone posed the question, "What is your best nursing ghost story?"

Surprisingly enough, many people had them - I spent half an hour going through these!Maybe it's not all that strange, though... after all, they do deal with life and death on a daily basis. Click on this link and enjoy:

An Answer to Emails

Okay, since I started posting about our vacation to St. Francisville, Natchez and Vicksburg, I've been getting emails asking all kinds of questions. To answer them: yes, we had a great time and yes, we found a lot of haunted places. To see both (ghost stories and tourist stories) just go to our website:

It's kind of the internet equivalent to, "Come on over and watch our slide show..." except in this case, you can sneak out whenever you want!

Poll Results!

Our latest poll question was: "I think that the movie that gives the most accurate portrayal of the supernatural is:"

And here are the results:

Amityville Horror 8%

13 Ghosts 8%

House on Haunted Hill 23%

Poltergeist 8%

Ghost 54%

Personally, my vote was cast for "Ghost", because it seems to fit so many of the hauntings that I've encountered. I enjoyed all of the movies, though, because they all had their own individual contributions to the perception of the supernatural.

I especially appreciate everyone who participates in the polls - it's fascinating to see everyone's opinions!

Lovin' Every Minute of It!

I know that the last couple of posts have been about places that we've visited on vacation, but hey, I'm still on that high from just being away for a while! I have a great time writing about places that we visited on vacation - in fact, I'm loving every minute of it!

One of the haunted places that we re-visited was King's Tavern, the site of one of the most delicious steaks that you're ever going to bite into.

There are also some ghost stories associated with it, which isn't surprising, since it's one of the oldest buildings in the city. For some stories and photos, go to:

Enjoy!
