I'm baaaaaaccck!
Sorry to be away from the blog for so long, but I was doing a little ghost-hunting in Louisiana and Mississippi. I thought that in this day and age I'd have internet access almost everywhere that I went, but alas, that just wasn't the case. I did find some great haunted places, though.
One of our stops was at the Myrtles Plantation, which has been the subject of many ghost-hunting TV shows and books. It's truly a beautiful place, and the manager that we spoke with gave us many first-hand stories. For example, she says that many ladies discover that one of their earrings is missing after the tour, and it will usually show back up in the house days, weeks, or even months later. The disappearances are blamed on Chloe, The Myrtles' famous one-eared slave who was hung for poisoning the family children.
The manager also told us that she is the one who locks the main house at night, then unlocks it in the morning. Frequently she'll find the furniture moved around, especially in the ladies' and gentlemen's parlors.
We didn't experience any supernatural activity while we were there, but we did have an incredible meal at the restaurant there. I highly recommend the BBQ, but the star of the meal was their green beans!
