Orbs to the left, orbs to the right...
First of all, let me apologize for the polling software. I was checking the results of the latest poll, and to my horror discovered that they were running an x-rated ad on the results page. The polling company is in charge of that, so I didn't have any control of what they displayed. Needless to say, I tossed the service off ghost-blog immediately, and replaced it with another one. My apologies to anyone who saw the old one and their new advertising policy.
The bad news is that all the poll votes went away with it, so I had to re-start this one from scratch. If you voted before, please re-cast it on the new poll. Thanks!
The current poll is about orbs, and it seems to be a hot topic in the ghost-hunting community. Some folks feel that orbs are never more than a spec of dust or moisture. Others believe that most orbs are spirit-related. Personally, I'm not sure. Certainly some orbs are natural occurrences - just take a flash photo in a rainstorm and you'll have hundreds of them. By the same token, I've seen a series of photos showing a orb floating across a room in a manner that a speck of dust or drop of moisture simply couldn't do. I see compelling evidence on both sides of the argument, so for me, the jury is still out on the subject of orbs. What do you think?

Orbs! Orbs! Orbs!...What are they and how can we determine their origin?. Is there really anybody out there that is so knowledgeable on this subject that they can say which is a true spirit orb and which are the orbs of nature. When my husband and I first become interested in strange and weird happenings, we were very excited when we would capture an orb of any shape, form or substance. Now that we have "been around the block" a few times, the orbs, unless they are extraordinarily strange, are now not as exciting as they once was. Not taking away from the orb theory. We still believe in orbs. We have done our own tests etc., but are still baffled to some of the results. I have taken photos on a dirt road right after the 4 wheeler stirred it up, and of course there were tons of orbs, so that had to be ruled out. But, some photos we take where we just know there will be orbs are not, and dust was involved as well, so how do you explain that? We always start with a P.O.E., which to us is Process of Elimination before we get it down to what it is not. We have taken many photos on our "excursions" if you will and some of Orbs are most definately not from mother nature. One especially big white, solid planet like orb was taken right on your front porch, Mitchel during a Halloween tour of your home in 2004. Very interesting orb indeed. We have several shots of very bright, solid, glowing, and moving in mid air orbs that I am almost certain are not born from atmospheric conditions. I experienced a strange thing when I was about 5 while riding in the car with my grandparents many many orbs ago. I was looking out the window and saw a huge glowing white ball of what I thought was fire whizz past the car probably about a foot off the ground. It ran from back to front and I will never forget it. I said something to my grandparents about it and they said they didn't see anything. But, I know what I saw and I will never forget it. This was over 50 years ago.
I agree that some definitely defy explanation. A crew for the show "Haunted America" was filming at The Grove, and in the kitchen they caught - on video - an orb of light weaving around through the people there. It remains one of the most interesting things that I've ever seen, and certainly couldn't be written off to moisture or dust!
